To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what was the average level of that element of the accommodation charge that was set in lieu of rates in Scotland in the year prior to the introduction of the community charge.

The charges were £359 per married quarter and £101 per unit of single accommodation.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what was the average level of that element of the accommodation charge that was set in lieu of rates in England and Wales in the year prior to the introduction of the community charge.

The charges were £408 per married quarter and £115 per unit of single accommodation.
