§ Ms. WalleyTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what proposals there are to extend the sewage outfall at Waveney, East Anglia; what volume of raw sewage is currently emitted through the outfall; what volume is planned through the extended outfall; and if there are proposals for full treatment sewage works to service the Waveney area.
§ Mr. Heathcoat-AmoryThere are no immediate plans to extend the existing outfall at Lowestoft, which has an average flow of 30,000 cubic metres a day. We are at present discussing with the water industry the level of treatment to be provided at Lowestoft. Sewage from Southwold is already given secondary treatment.
