HC Deb 25 July 1990 vol 177 cc292-3W
Mr. Michael Brown

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement regarding Government policy on requiring visa applications from Polish citizens visiting the United Kingdom.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

In accordance with the provisions of the immigration rules (HC 251) any Polish citizen wishing to visit the United Kingdom must first make an application for a visa at a British embassy, high commission or consulate.

Mr. Michael Brown

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is the length of time to process a visa application by the British embassy in Warsaw.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Private applications for visit visas, once lodged with the embassy, are processed the same day. We aim to process other types of applications normally within seven working days (short-term official) and one month (long-term and multiple-entry).
