HL Deb 23 July 1990 vol 521 c1313WA
Lord Macaulay of Bragar

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have any proposals to ensure that when young offenders appear for trial all outstanding charges are dealt with prior to a custodial sentence in a young offenders institution being imposed, thereby eliminating the need for further court attendance while the sentence is being served or on the release of the offender on completion of his sentence.

Earl Ferrers

No. It is normal practice to attempt to ensure that all charges are dealt with before an offender is sentenced.
