To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what assessment he has made of the practicality of reducing nitrate content in water through the creation of new wetlands; and if he will make a statement.

I am aware that studies carried out in other countries have shown encouraging results. This is an interesting proposal and I will keep developments under review.
