HL Deb 12 July 1990 vol 521 c544WA
Baroness Elliot of Harwood

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have any intention of introducing a separate Scottish Assembly with tax raising powers.

The Minister of State, Scottish Office (Lord Sanderson of Bowden)

The Government believe that the present constitutional arrangements provide for Scotland to take its rightful place in the United Kingdom and therefore have no plans for the introduction of an assembly.
