Hotel and Catering Training

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what plans he has for the future of hotel and catering training.

The White Paper "Employment for the 1990s" set out the Government's view that independent and voluntary arrangements are more likely to be effective than those agreed by statute.

In November 1989 the Government accepted proposals put forward by the chairman of the hotel and catering training board for new independent training arrangements in the hotel and catering industry. These new arrangements were prepared following full consultation with the main employer associations in the industry.
