To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement on the talks held recently between his Department and representatives of Mid-Glamorgan county council on the future management of the Polytechnic of Wales.

Officials from the Department have recently discussed with officers of Mid-Glamorgan county council the detailed provisions to be included in the new instrument of government for the Polytechnic of Wales required by the Education Reform Act 1988. The Act requires a revised instrument of government setting out the constitution of a new governing body to be in effect by 1 April 1990.
