To ask the Secretary of State for Energy what is the total and source of financial contributions from public funds to the Union of Democratic Mineworkers; and if he will make a statement.

My Department makes no payments to the Union of Democratic Mineworkers.

I met the president of the Union of Democratic Mineworkers on 23 January to discuss a range of issues affecting the coal industry.
