§ Mrs. ChalkerI attended the Southern Africa Development Co-ordination Conference's annual consultation meeting with donors in Lusaka on 1 and 2 February. I announced a new pledge of £10 million for regional projects and took part in discussions on the past and future work of the organisation. I also briefly visited Zimbabwe, where I had talks with Zimbabwean Ministers, and South Africa, where I visited the British Council and the health centre in the Alexandra township of Johannesburg.
§ Mr. AllenTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs when he next intends to visit South Africa to discuss aid projects.
§ Mrs. ChalkerMy right hon. Friend has no plans to visit South Africa for this purpose. I made a brief visit to Johannesburg on my way to Lusaka last month to discuss our aid to black South Africans with our project partners.
