To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs when he first became aware of Iraq's involvement in an advanced missile development programme.

We first became aware of Iraq's involvement with advanced ballistic missiles in 1987 when Iraq announced it had developed missiles with a 650 km range. It used such missiles against Iran in early 1988.
