§ Dr. MawhinneyThe design and construction of playgrounds and play areas in schools must conform to standards recommended by the Department of Education. These standards have recently been revised and improvements introduced. The provision and maintenance, including safety standards, of public recreational facilities are the responsibility of district councils.
