HL Deb 15 November 1989 vol 512 c1396WA
Viscount Craigavon

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, following the Centenary Inter-Parliamentary Union Conference in September 1989, they have considered the resolution adopted relating to population and food (in Annex XIII of the results); and whether they support those conclusions relating to population.

Lord Brabazon of Tara

The Government have considered carefully the Inter-Parliamentary Union Conference's resolution on population and food and support the conclusions relating to population. We give a high priority to population assistance in our overseas aid policy and have increased our spending in support of this work from £6.5 million in 1981 to over £16 million in 1988.
