HL Deb 25 May 1989 vol 508 c584WA
Lord Northfield

asked Her Majesty's Government:

When the southern section on the A.23 road, between the M.23 and Brighton, will become dual carriageway throughout, particularly at such congested points as Bolney.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Transport (Lord Brabazon of Tara)

We hope to start construction of a new dual carriageway section of the A.23 between Hickstead and Muddleswood later this year for completion in 1991. Timing of construction of further sections between Warninglid and Hickstead and between Muddleswood and Brighton will depend on completion of the statutory procedures.
