To ask the Secretary of State for Health what is the latest estimate of the value of(a) total National Health Service estate and (b) the land and property owned by the National Health Service that is surplus to requirements.

The latest estimates of the value of the NHS estate, as at June 1987, have been placed in the Library. The document is a summary of the valuation of all property including that which is surplus. The realisable value of a specific site is obtained when a sale is in prospect.
