HC Deb 06 March 1989 vol 148 c385W
Mr. Atkinson

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement of progress on the introduction of information technologies to facilitate internal communications in his Department and the provision of information to the public concerning those areas for which he is responsible; and if he has any further plans to apply the newest technologies in these fields.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

The Home Office makes increasing use of information technology, where this offers the best value for money, to help meet its business objectives. Developments in information technology and their application to the Department's business needs are kept under review, and the newest technologies are applied where these provide cost-effective solutions.
