HC Deb 06 June 1989 vol 154 c105W
Mr. Amess

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will seek to introduce legislation to require that the parent or guardian of a minor signs the consent form for general anaesthetic; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Freeman

Arrangements for ensuring that patients (and parents or guardians where appropriate) are informed about proposed treatments and for obtaining their consent are under review. Revised guidance will be issued as soon as the review has been concluded. The Government has no plans to introduce legislation.
