§ Mr. ChannonIn 1988 there were at least 1,750 pedestrian deaths on our roads, and 57,000 other injuries. Tackling these unnecessary accidents is one of my top priorities.
I announced a series of proposals in the document "Pedestrian Safety: New Proposals for Making Walking Safer" on 19 April. Copies have been placed in the Library.
