To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, following his White paper on

broadcasting in the 1990's, he has plans to enable a series of national independent radio stations to operate in addition to local radio stations.

Yes. Paragraph 8.4 of the broadcasting White Paper (November Cm. 517) sets out our proposals for three national commercial radio stations.
