What steps they intend to take to ensure that there is fair competition between ports in the European Community, as called for by the Prime Minister, in view of the subsidies paid by many European governments to their own port undertakings.

The Government are continuing to impress on the European Commission the need for financial relations between public authorities and port undertakings in the Community to be fair and open.
