HL Deb 15 February 1989 vol 504 cc281-2WA
Lord Sefton of Garston

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What aid was given to the Humber Bridge Board in order to enable it to write off a proportion of its outstanding debt, whether they will make the same type of payment to the Mersey Tunnel Authority, and if not, why not.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Transport (Lord Brabazon of Tara)

The Government have not yet determined the amount of aid to be given to the 11 amber Bridge Board.

Progress towards assessing possible aid to the Mersey Tunnel Authority depends, in the first instance, on their providing a reasoned case. We have been waiting for this for well over a year.
