To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make a statement on the number of schools which have been granted grant-maintained status, and the number of such applications so far received.

To date 51 schools have voted in favour of applying for grant-maintained status, of which 48 have so far published proposals. My right hon. Friend has taken decisions on 41 cases, of which 32 have been approved for grant-maintained status. Decisions on the remaining applications will be taken on their merits in due course.
