HC Deb 24 October 1988 vol 139 c1W
Mr. Wray

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is the average price of a school meal in (1) the Inner London education authority area, (2) Oxford, (3) Liverpool, (4) Birmingham, (5) Manchester, (6) Newcastle-upon-Tyne, (7) Cardiff, (8) Norwich, and (9) York.

Mr. Butcher

Data relating to the average price of a school meal in individual cities are not collected centrally. Data relating to the charges made for fixed-price school meals in local education authorities in England, based on the Department's annual school meals census, are included in the report on school meals statistics at October 1987, published by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy. A copy is available in the Library.

Matters relating to Cardiff are for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales.
