HC Deb 24 October 1988 vol 139 c1W
Mr. Wray

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) if he will list all the educational facilities provided to dyslexic children in the United Kingdom;

(2) how many children born for each year since 1974 have been found to suffer from dyslexia in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Butcher

Since the implementation of the 1981 Education Act in 1983, this Department has not collected national or local statistics of children by category of handicap. This information is not therefore available.

Mr. Wray

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what information he has as to which countries make special educational provisions for dyslexic children.

Mr. Butcher

The Department does not collect, and is not aware of any systematic study of, detailed information about the educational provision made in other countries for children with specific learning difficulties.
