HC Deb 24 October 1988 vol 139 c7W
Mr. Bermingham

To ask the Attorney-General how many black jurors have been involved in the trying of cases in Liverpool Crown court in the last period of 12 months for which figures are available.

The Attorney-General

This information cannot be provided as no record is kept of the ethnic origin of jurors.

Mr. Bermingham

To ask the Attorney-General how many jury panels out of the total number selected over the last period of 12 months for which figures are available originate from each of the Liverpool areas; and if he will make a statement.

The Attorney-General

The figures requested could be extracted only at disproportionate cost. However, jurors are summoned from all the electoral districts within the catchment area of the Crown court at Liverpool, based on annually updated electoral registers.
