To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many individuals hold farm inseminator licences granted by the Department of Agriculture (NI).

At 10 October 1988, a total of 1,043 individuals were licensed to perform artificial insemination on cows in their own herds.

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what information he has as to how many licensed technicians are employed by commercial artificial insemination services licensed by the Department of Agriculture (NI).

The Department of Agriculture has issued licences for 45 technicians and a further five licence applications are being considered.
