§ The Attorney-GeneralConveyancing activity continued in 1988 at record levels. By increasing output urgent business had been contained throughout England and Wales, but completion times for substantive applications have not yet improved. However, the measures now in 377W place (including the recruitment and training since April 1988 of over 2,000 additional staff, new work initiatives to improve productivity and the opening of four further offices) are expected to lead to a steady improvement over the next few months.
