To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many 16 and 17-year-olds who previously received income support were transferred to bridging allowance after new benefit rules were introduced in September for Scotland.

On 4 October, the first date for which figures are available for Scotland, the number of young people in receipt of bridging allowance was 8,081. This figure includes young people previously on income support who subsequently applied for a YTS place and young people who have left a job or a YTS place since 12 September and have applied for a YTS place.
