§ Mr. SteelTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what representations he has received on continued funding of the Crossroads (Scotland) care attendant schemes; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. RifkindI have received a considerable number of representations from or on behalf of local Crossroads schemes about transition from the community programme to employment training.
Strong representations were expressed about the ability of local schemes to adapt to the conditions of employment training. Eight have however now signed contracts or are expected to do so shortly, demonstrating that there is no insuperable obstacle to continuation of their invaluable activities with support from that source. Others have obtained support from local authorities or health boards.
The Training Agency remains ready to offer advice and guidance to local schemes wishing to continue to resume activity with support under employment training.
