HC Deb 07 November 1988 vol 140 c42W
Mr. Mullin

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will call for a report from the chief constable of Strathclyde regarding the progress of police inquiries into allegtions of fraud by senior managers involving recently privatised British Rail contracts; and if he will list the contracts involved.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

British Transport police are investigating allegations of criminal conduct by senior officers of British Rail. The procurator fiscal at Glasgow is being kept advised as to the progress of these inquiries. Given that inquiries are still proceeding it would not be appropriate for further details to be given at this stage.
