HC Deb 03 November 1988 vol 139 c768W
Mr. Home Robertson

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will take action to improve safety on miniature warning light level crossings as a result of the recommendations made by the sheriff following the fatal accident inquiry into a death at North Belton, Dunbar.

Mr. Portillo

The installation of miniature warning light level crossings is governed by strict criteria issued by the Department in the published "Railway Construction and Operation Requirements—Level Crossings". These requirements are under constant review in the light of experience and the development of safety practices. We see no need to amend the current provisions in the light of the sheriff's recommendations.
