To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will publish figures showing numbers of council houses sold and subsequently repossessed both in numercial terms and as a proportion of all council houses sold for each of the years 1984–85, 1985–86 and 1986–87; and if he will make a statement.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will publish in theOfficial Report the current exceptions requiring local authorities to exercise the right to buy for their tenants.

Mr. Trippier

Schedule 5 to the Housing Act 1985, as amended by the Housing and Planning Act 1986, sets out exceptions to the right to buy. In addition, tenants whose tenancies are not secure by reason of the exceptions to security of tenure in schedule 1 to the Act will not have the right to buy.
