To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what action he is taking to implement the proposals contained in the consultation document "Restrictions on Employment of Young People and the Removal of Sex Discrimination in Legislation"; and if he will make a statement.

I announced the Government's decision to denouce ILO convention No. 45 in my reply to a question from my hon. Friend the Member for Bosworth (Mr. Tredinnick) on Thursday 26 May.

I am still considering with my colleagues the responses we have received on other matters covered by the consultation document. The Northern Ireland Office is currently consulting publicly on the equivalent Northern Ireland legislation and the closing date for responses to its consultation document is 3 June 1988.
