HC Deb 27 May 1988 vol 134 c378W
Mr. Churchill

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what estimates exist within his Department of the numbers of immigrants likely to be admitted for settlement in the current and coming years; and if he will publish these estimates.

Mr. Renton

Projections of acceptances for settlement in the current and following year only are prepared within the Home Office, but are not published, because the uncertainties surrounding the timing of individual applications for, and grants of, settlement inevitably makes them highly speculative.
