§ Dr. David ClarkTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how often he reviews the availability, capacity and standards of service of oil and chemical reception facilities operating at British ports.
§ Mr. MoynihanLegislation requiring ports and terminals to provide reception facilities for oil residues came into force in July 1984 and the availability and capacity of these facilities have since been assessed annually by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Transport. In the case of other noxious residues, including chemicals, legislation was enacted in April 1987 and the same monitoring arrangements are being put into place. There have been no reports of inadequate standards of service, but if such a report were received, it would of course be investigated.
