The Department's forecasts of air traffic for the United Kingdom, published in 1986, estimated demand on a high economic growth scenario at 98.9 million passengers per annum (mppa) in 1990, 132.1 mppa in 1995 and 169.4 mppa in 2000. On a lower economic growth scenario the forecasts were 83.2, 98.1 and 113.8 mppa respectively. We expect to publish new forecasts towards the end of the year.
