To ask the Minister for the Civil Service what is his estimate of the effect on public expenditure of implementing the recommendations of the efficiency unit report, "Improving Management in Government: The Next Steps."

The Government strategy on public expenditure remains unchanged, but we are always seeking ways of achieving better value for money.
