To ask the Minister for the Civil Service what is his policy towards the provision of briefing sessions by his Department for hon. Members.

I attach great importance to the provision of briefing for hon. Members on all sides of the House on the work of the Civil Service and current developments in government. In 1986 and 1987, three briefings were given on management reforms in government and on the work of the Management and Personnel Office. Earlier this month the Civil Service college organised two briefing seminars on the work of the Civil Service for hon. Members who first entered the House at the beginning of this Parliament.
