To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what recent representations he has received on the core curriculum for schools.

I refer my hon. Friend to the reply which I gave him on Monday 7 March 1988. Many of the letters commenting on our national curriculum proposals have welcomed the inclusion of English, mathematics and science as core subjects.
