What was the average cost of (a) an attendance centre order, and (b) a place in a probation hostel in the financial years 1985–86, 1986–87 and 1987–88 respectively.
The Minister of State, Home Office (Earl Ferrers)The average cost of giving effect to an attendance centre order is estimated to have been about £82 in the financial year 1985–86 and about £108 in 1986–87. The annual cost of accommodating a person, net of residents' contributions, in a probation hostel in England and Wales was £7,666 in 1985–86; the estimated cost for 1986–87 is £8,095. Figures for 1987–88 are not yet available.
