HL Deb 14 March 1988 vol 494 c1022WA
Lord Ironside

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many firearms dealers in the United Kingdom are currently registered to deal in stun guns.

How many persons in the United Kingdom are currently authorised to be in possession of stun guns.

Earl Ferrers

A stun gun is a prohibited weapon under Section 5 of the Firearms Act 1968. No member of the general public is authorised to possess one. Only those firearms dealers who have the specific authority of the Secretary of State may deal in them for research and development or for export purposes. Precise figures in this respect are not readily available and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
