HC Deb 11 March 1988 vol 129 c353W
Mr. Wigley

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what contributions are being made by his Department to research into damage to the meteorological stability of the atmosphere by atmospheric pollution; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Moynihan

The Department has recently started a new programme of research in climate change to improve assessments of the effect pollution (in the form of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases) may have on the earth's climate. This is in close co-operation with the programme being carried out at the Meteorological Office and the Natural Environment Research Council, which contribute to the UN world climate programme.
