§ 29. Mr. YeoTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what representations he has received regarding the funding of any pay awards made to National Health Service employees.
§ 34. Mr. WallTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make it his policy that Her Majesty's Government will meet the pay award to nurses and the ancillary staff in the National Health Service.
§ Mr. NewtonA large number of representations on the subject of funding pay awards has been received from a wide range of organisations and individuals.
As in the past, the Government will await the recommendations of the review body on nurses' pay before taking decisions on implementation and funding. These decisions will be announced as soon as possible thereafter. The pay of ancillary staff is a matter for negotiation within the ancillary staffs Whitley Council.
