To ask the Secretary of State for Wales, for the last year for which full figures are available, what was the level of investment in plant and machinery in farms in Wales; and what are the corresponding figures both at outturn and real prices for each year since 1979.

Based on the aggregate income calculation for Welsh agriculture, investment in plant and machinery in 1986 amounted to £31 million. For the period since 1979, the corresponding figures in current money terms and at constant 1980 prices were as follows:
