HC Deb 21 June 1988 vol 135 c498W
Mr. Martyn Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what percentage increase there was in patients treated in hospitals in Wales in 1986 over those treated in 1979; and what percentage increase there was in outpatients treated.

Mr. Grist

Twenty-four per cent. more in-patients were treated and 18 per cent. more new out-patients were seen in Welsh hospitals in 1986 than in 1979. I am pleased to say that the 1987 figures show an even further improvement to 28 per cent. and 21 per cent respectively.
