HC Deb 20 June 1988 vol 135 c447W
51. Mr. Jacques Arnold

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what estimate he has of how many vehicles on the road could be adapted to take lead-free petrol.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

Nearly half the cars on the road could use or be easily adapted to use unleaded petrol. About 2 million cars currently on the road could use unleaded petrol without modification and about 7 million others could be easily adapted to do so.
