HC Deb 20 June 1988 vol 135 c374W
92. Mr. Wallace

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what special assistance Her Majesty's Government are providing for African countries affected by the spread of AIDS.

Mr. Chris Patten

We have already committed £7.75 million, including £4.5 million this year, to the World Health Organisation's global programme on AIDS which is working with 44 countries in Africa. In addition, we have offered to provide a total of £4.6 million over five years for national AIDS control programmes agreed with the World Health Organisation in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
