§ Mr. MoynihanThe obligations of a waste disposal authority under the Control of Pollution Act 1974 to monitor landfill sites cease when the licence expires. However, district councils retain their duties under section648W 91 of the Public Health Act 1936 to inspect their districts for the occurrence of any statutory nuisance which may be caused by the deposit.
