HC Deb 09 June 1988 vol 134 c648W
Mr. Harry Greenway

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he is satisfied that provisions relating to the density of house and other building and the provision of drainage and sewerage are not being exceeded on land in the vicinity of Cortons brook and the Brent river; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Waldegrave

Decisions concerning the density of development in Ealing, as elsewhere, are a matter for the local planning authority taking into account any general guidance. My Department's circular 17/82 emphasises that, where land drainage considerations arise, they should always be taken into account in determining planning applications. The adequacy of infrastructure is also a consideration for the local planning authority in consultation with the relevant utilities.
