To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what information he has on proposals to make 1990 the European year of the traveller.

Mr. Lee

The European Parliament has adopted a proposal that 1990 be designated European year of the traveller. The European Commission is now involved in drawing up detailed proposals on the activities that might be involved. I await these proposals with interest.
